Located on the northern tip of Zanzibar, Ras Nungwi Beach Hotel lies
a mere 60 km from the airport and Zanzibar’s Stone Town. The Hotel has
32 rooms furnished with hand crafted four poster beds and indigenous
décor, and all have en-suite facilities and verenda. Lodge rooms (12)
have a garden view and all chalets (20) have a sea view. The resort
has a bar and restaurant, and offers water-skiing, windsurfing, snorkeling
and deep sea fishing.
Mnemba
Island lodge
Protected by a tranquil lagoon in a private island and just 15 minutes
by boat from the main Unguja (Zanzibar) Island, Mnemba Island Lodge
has 10 secluded cottages build from natural palm matting, timber and
thatch. The cottages have en-suite bathrooms, and a private verandah
overlooking the lagoon. With staff and guests as the only human inhabitants

NUNGWI
VILLAGE BEACH RESORT
Located on the northernmost point of the island, consists of several
seafront bungalows with the traditional African style makuti thatched
roofs. There are 20 rooms, all rooms are self-contained, all sea front
rooms have A/C, some garden view rooms have A/C, diving and equipment
hire Facilities available include massage center, telephone and e-mail
service, bureau de change, Medical Emergency membership by Flying Doctors
of Africa.
Activities while at the resort include deep sea fishing, snorkeling,
windsurfing, dhow cruises, indoor and outdoor games
MAPENZI BEACH RESORT
Mapenzi Beach Resort is situated on the East Coast, about
45 kilometres from the airport. The resort blends in perfectly will
with the surrounding tropical landscape of beach and gardens, covering
an area of two hectares.
The resort consists of 87 spacious, comfortable rooms, of which 30 have
the garden view, 27 are standard rooms and 30 have sea front view. Each
room with private bathroom is furnished in the typical East African
style and has its own veranda, hairdryer, mosquito net, safety deposit
box, telephone and ceiling fan. Sea view or seafront rooms with air-conditioning
are available on request at an additional supplement.
MATEMWE BEACH RESORT
Matemwe Beach is a small guesthouse which is located out on its own
on a long stretch of classic palm-lined, white sand beach on the the
North East coast of Zanzibar Island. Just off-shore from the guesthouse
is the world-famous Mnemba Atoll, whose circling reef has some of the
best diving in East Africa. Along the beach from us are palm-thatched
villages, where friendly local people live a traditional life dominated
by fishing. Matemwe really is close to the classical notion of paradise.
SHOOTING STAR
Shooting Star Lodge is located on the north east coast of Zanzibar,
about five kilometres to the north of the fishing village of Kiwengwa.
It sits on a hill above the back of the beach , looking out over a beautiful
palm-lined arc of white sand and turquoise lagoon beyond.The best rooms
here are the Sea View Cottages, which are built to the south of the
main area in two staggered rows, allowing each cottage to benefit from
the stunning view. These rooms are simple yet stylish, all with private
bathrooms, showers, hot and cold running water, ceiling or bedside fans
and Zanzibarian four poster beds with mosquito nets as pictured opposite.
The Garden Lodge Rooms, located on the northern side of and slightly
behind the main areas, are housed within a single structure and do not
have the outlook or feel. We would only recommend that you use these
rooms if the cottages were full.
MNARANI BEACH COTTAGES
Mnarani Beach Cottage is located on the north coast of Zanzibar along
pristine unspoilt beaches.
Accomodation is in self contained beach cottages all with individual
air conditioning, satellite channels, in room safety locks and minibars.
There are 17 comfortable rooms at Mnarani Beach Cottages, situated along
sandy paths in the greenery. They're all en-suite with hot water and
mosquito nets.
The 12 standard makuti-thatched cottages are small, arranged in pairs
and face the sea. They are furnished in simple Zanzibar style and are
decorated with fresh blue, pink and white shades. If you're into star
signs, you'll enjoy the names of these rooms.

MATEMWE BUNGALOWS
Matemwe
Bungalows is situated on the north east coast of Zanzibar, about an
hour by car from Stone Town. Matemwe is one of the most peaceful and
scenic locations where nature is still un-spoilt. The swimming pool
is the Blue/Green Ocean in front of your bungalow which stretches far
beyond the horizon to touch land again in Indonesia some 3000 miles
away.

en-suite bungalows are built of local stone and have Mikuti rooves and
are directly overlooking the Indian Ocean. Each has a large veranda
where you can laze in your own hammocks. Most of the fixtures and fittings
are made from local materials, mainly Coconut wood, whilst the soft
furnishings are locally produced materials made by local women’s groups,
and the matting made by the blind association in Stone Town. The sun,
through our solar system, supplies lighting and hot water, hence the
bungalows do not have air-conditioning except by the sea breezes. Television
has not reached us yet. The large luxurious suite room bungalows have
a king size bed and a single bed, whereas the Self contained bungalows
are double or twin. |
